Bus explosion at EDSA killed 4, injured 18
Manila Philippines, an unknown (yet) bomb was exploded on a bus while traveling along EDSA. The bomb killed four and injured 18 innocent passengers.The passenger bus was approaching the loading bay and MRT Buendia railway station on EDSA's northbound lane according to the radio operator at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority or the MMDA when bomb went off at about 2PM today, January 25, 2011.
The explosion was so powerful that it created a hole on the Newman Gold Liner bus' solid steel floor and to the bus' body and also crashed its side windows.
"Isang malaking bomba ‘yong sumabog, pero inaalam pa kung anong klase" [It was a huge bomb that exploded, and we are still investigating what kind of explosive device it is] said Senior Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio, chief of police of Makati.
The investigators and media men said that it is not yet determine whether the perpetrators was a plain terrorists or was it a diversionary political tactics.
What made the explosion worst is that the bomb was placed on the middle part of the bus making a wider and maximum damage range to the passengers aboard the bus. The bomb was reportedly placed on the sixth row from the driver seat.
Casualties were taken to the Ospital ng Makati and to St. Luke’s Medical Center at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig city. Also, victims who can still managed to walk still goes to the hospitals to make their injuries be examined. TV5 news reported that some medical examinations like xray, etc. are given to the victims.
Philippines vice president Binay and his son Makati city mayor Binay are the first popular personalities that went off to the crime scene.
Some lucky passengers immediately went home, though not hurt, but like the most of us, still shock.
