Asus looses customers after a tweet...
Asus "Rear" Tweet, Sexist?
Asus Drew Critics On Twitter
Asus' tweet had made its followers offended, is Asus sexist?
Twitter is a great tool for reaching people especially for a company like Asus who uses twitter to make promitional campaigns.
However, great as it is, it can also fry you up if you'll make even the slightest mistake, and the thing is - it happens just recently.
Asus debuted its new Transformer AIO at Computex 2012 in Taiwan and promoted it on their official twitter account. The twitter update however had offended many of its followers, mostly women, and even labeled them as sexist.
Here's the tweet:
What looks like a simple humor seems to have offended of those who saw the update.
Nitizens said that the joke is definetely dirty and was in nature to be use by beered men on the bar and not by a reputable company like Asus.
ASUS’s Global Corporate Marketing Division had given their official statement through digital marketing manager, Tim Smalley:
First of all, please accept our sincere apologies for causing offence to many of Twitter’s users – it was never ASUS’ intention to offend anyone, let alone be sexist.
We have spent some time investigating this since it came to our attention and, due to the hectic schedule around Computex and the fact a number of third parties had access to our social media accounts during this period, we realize that someone has made a deeply regrettable mistake. We have taken steps to ensure that this does not happen again.
They have deleted their controversial twitter updates and had issued this tweet to their followers:
We apologise for the inappropriate comment on Twitter earlier. We will take steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
