Araw Ng Kagitingan @ Mount Samat

Bataan, On Day Of Valor or Araw ng Kagitingan was held on Balanga City, Bataan with the Philippine president as the guest of honor.

The war memorial shrine located at Mount Samat houses the huge 92 meters high war merorial cross that stands at the top of the mountain some 555 meters above sea level.

The observance of the Araw ng Kagitingan today, April 9, 2012 is more visible not just because of the presence of President Benigno Noynoy PNoy Aquino III, but because this day is the 70'th anniversary of the Day of Valor.

The Mount Samat's high cross had became not just a symbol of Filipino heroism but had also became a good tourist spot for the municipality of Bataan. As the white cross stood on the top of the mountain, the publicity it creates by just standing there is really eye-catching, not to mention to the word-of-mouth from the people who had visited the cross.

The cross is too huge that it has an elevator for the tourists. On the horizontal bar of the cross, some 20 tourists can get in there at once conviniently. At the top of the cross, you can see the whole landscape of Bataan.

Bataan is indeed included in the Philippine history at the time of war as it became the battle field between our own native people against the foreigners.
