Richard Gomez admitted that he is planning to run for Mayor of Ormoc City for the upcoming 2013 election polls.

This is a revelation that the Filipino actor, comedian, model, athlete, television presenter, and director said on an interview during the launch of 'Not On Our Watch' book at the Metropolitan Museum in Manila.

When directly asked if he will run for Mayor in Ormoc City. Richard said "I'm preparing,".

“Kasi tinalo na namin ang family ng incumbent mayor now. Of course, nawala ang seat nila sa Congress kasi nakuha ni Lucy.

“Sabi ko sa kanila, 'wag na silang manggulo kasi ang ganda ng ginagawang trabaho ni Lucy. There’s so much improvement, there’s so much progress sa Ormoc.

"Continuously, nanggugulo sila. I’ll be forced to run head to head against them.

"Ayaw nilang tumigil so maglaban tayo head to head. Lalabanan ko sila.”

It can be recalled that Ricahrd filed a candidacy to become a congressional representative in the fourth district of Leyte last 2012 election. The Commission on Elections however barred him from running because the actor lacked the required one year residency before joining the congressional race.

Gomez further revealed that his wife, incumbent congresswoman Lucy Torres will seek re-election on the 2013 polls.
