Tropical Depression Karen - September 2012 Update


The active low pressure area that's been monitoring by PAGASA has been developed into a Tropical Depression and was named KAREN.

Bagyong Karen or simply Tropical Depression Karen is currently gaining its strength and moving 7 kilometers per hour - northwest.

How strong?

As of today, September 10, 2012 - 11AM, Bagyong Karen is currently has a maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near its center - the PAGASA weather bulletin said.

At 4:00 a.m. today, according to PAGASA, Tropical Storm "KAREN" was estimated based on satellite images and surface data at 660 kilometers East of Borongan, Eastern Samar (12.0°N, 132.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kilometers per hour. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 15 kph. Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 240 kilometers West of Zambales (15.0°N, 117.5°E).

At 4:00 a.m. today, according to weather bureau PAGASA, Tropical Storm "KAREN" was estimated based on satellite images and surface data at 540 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (14.4°N, 129.9°E) with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph. It is forecast to move Northwest at 15 kph.

It is forecast to move North at 15 kilometers per hour.
