February 25, 2013 Declared A Holiday!

The 27'th anniversary of EDSA People Power on February 25, 2013 is a holiday according to officials. This was made public on the DepEd's official twitter account that said "February 25 (Monday),EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary, is a special holiday for all schools nationwide."


This announcement by the DepEd took effect after President Benigno Aquino III last year, August 16, signed Proclamation 459 where he specified Feb. 25 will be a special holiday for schools.

On the other hand, working class who are asking if the holiday will take effect on them. Unfortunately, the holiday will not cover the private companies and government offices. So as per Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), February 25, 2013 is not a holiday.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said a "Run for Juan" is scheduled the day before the celebration to mark the 27th anniversary of the peaceful revolt.

The next holiday is Holy Week, a four-day break starting March 28, Maundy Thursday.
