Panagbenga Festival 2013 Rocked With A Grenade Blast

A grenade explosion rocked the Panagbenga Festival 2013 at Baguio City hurting at least three persons during
the height of the festivity.

According to initial police reports, the expolsion happened before seven in the morning at the office of the Civilian Volunteer Against Crime (BCVAC) which was at the basement of the Melvin Jones Grandstand in Burnham Park.

The three victims who were fortunately have experienced minor injuries were rushed to the Baguio General Hospital for treatment. The three injured were named as Jenard Palomique, Joseph Espadz, and the duty security guard Gilbert Salvador. Investifation had promptly initiated to hunt down the proprietors - Baguio's police spokesman Senior Inspector Virgilio Hidalgo said on an interview.

Chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong, the Cordillera police chief, in a separate interview had assured tourists that the explosion is an isolated incident anf will not affect the peaceful celebration of the annual festival.

Magalong admitted that the local authorities had been receiving threats due to its anti-crime campaigns.

The group of criminals had yet to be identified.
