Prepare yourself for another long weekend as the office of the President had declared January 23, 2012 as a special non-working holiday in celebration of Chinese New Year.
The Chinese nationals all over the world will celebrate Spring Festival, which is popularly known as the Chinese New Year.
This year's Chinese New Year is more suited as the Chinese calendar declares that 2012 is the year of the dragon, where dragon is commonly displayed on this kind of festivity.
This will be the first of the six long weekends of 2012 for the entire Philippines.
According to proclamation number 295:
on January 23, 2012, the Chinese nationals all over the world will celebrate Spring Festival, popularly known as the Chinese New Year, which is one of the most revered and festive events celebrated not only in China but also in the Philippines by both Chinese Filipinos and ordinary Filipinos as well; and the joint celebration is a manifestation of our solidarity with our Chinese Filipino brethren who have been part of our lives in many respects as a country and as a people; 23 January 2012 may be declared as a special (non-working) day without detriment to public interest;
So that's it! January 23, 2012 had been confirmed as a special non-working holiday in celbration of the Chinese New Year.
