Willing Willie suspension over Jan-Jan case

Nope, not yet official as MTRCB is expected to determine today, April 7 2011, whether the Willing Willie show will be suspended or not. The possible suspension is said to be based on March 12, 2011 airing of Willing Willie most known as the Jan-Jan case.

The debate will be ground whether the six years old boy was exploited or not.

MTRCB Chairman Grace Poe-Llamanzares, the daughter of the late Fernando Poe, said, "There are talks of a preventive suspension. That's one option."

However, one MTRCB official, who want to remain anonymous because he was not an authorized MTRCB spokesperson, said that - "There's no question about the suspension. What is being discussed is for how long."

"The suspension would be a message that the Board won't tolerate shows that denigrate human dignity especially when it involves children." he further added.

MTRCB's Hearing and Adjudication Committee started the preliminary conference last Monday. The hearing includes getting the side of TV5 network, the statements from the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Commission on Human Rights as well as the inputs from psychologist Honey Carandang.


MTRCB chair, Grace Poe-Llamanzares noted, "Kaya nga pinag-aaralan naming mabuti kasi ayaw naming abusuhin ang aming kapangyarihan...Merong fine, merong suspension ng show, merong suspension ng network kung saka-sakali. Ayaw nating humantong [sa ganito]. Alam nating maraming taong dumedepende sa trabaho nila dito sa ating industriya pero dapat naman nating itama kung saka-sakaling may nagkamali."

It is recalled that the controversial March 12, 2011 episodes of Willing Willie had caused the show snow ball effect damages. First, the pull-out of Jollibee's Mang Inasal advertisement spots and then this possible suspension of the show.
