2012, Palm Sunday is a moveable celebration for the Catholics that falls on the Sunday before Easter.Palm Sunday here in the Philippines is celebrated by going to the Catholic church with decorated leaves. The priest will then bless the palms with holy water after the mass.
The blessing of holy water happens while the devotees are holding their palms upward while waving it on the air.
According to Catholic teachings, the celebration is a reenactment of Christ's entry into the Jerusalem while he was on the donkey. The entry of Christ into the Jerusalem was mentioned in the four gospels Mark 11:1–11, Matthew 21:1–11, Luke 19:28–44, and John 12:12–19.
On our family, we are used to make this a day that all family members will go to church together and we are going to a photo studio to take our pictures yearly.
We then hang the palms on our house in the beliefs that it would protect us from bad spirits.
