China vs Philippines Cold War

The tension is rising between China and Philippines after...

Is China Bullying Philippines

China Philippines Spratly Island

China And Philippines Irks

Is China really bullying Philippines ?

With the yearssss long conflict of Spratly Islands, the China - Philippines war talk had never been so intense since these past few months.

China aside from the Philippines is the most aggressive country that claims the ownership of the Spratly Islands, other countries claiming are Brunei, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines and China.

The Philippines, being one of the most obvious owner of the said group of islands based on the topographical position is the number one competitor of China, that is why China and Philippines relationship has becoming more sour because of the disputed group of islands in contested water territory.

First, reports of naval vessel intimidation were reported by the Philippines after they accused China's vessel to have been illegally fishing on the desputed waters - the Scarborough Shoal, which China calls the Huangyan Island.

To participate on the rising tenstion, hackers from both country had been defacing the opponents owned websites, mostly government operated sites. The hacking war is said to have an effect to the banking community which can hurt the economy of the affected country. The first Philippine owned website that hacked is the University of the Philippines's site, which was defaced last month.

But that's not all, China just recently made a bold move that could offend Philippines when Xinhua airline's official News Agency reported that four travel agencies had suspended their booking destinations to the Philippines. The move is China's update to the escalating tensions between the two countries.

The Philippine Department of Tourism said Chinese tourists accounts only about nine percent of total tourist arrival in the country.

However, abs-cbn news had released an infographic that shows China being the fourth Tourists arrivals in the country, and is the fastes-growing source of tourist arrivals for the first quarter of the current year.

Here is the breakdown:
Korea - 265,031
U.S.A - 179,561
Japan - 104,558
China - 96,455

If so, do Filipino really care about China stopping their tourist to go to our country ?

UPDATE:
Export products going to China were also reported to have been affected by the tension, report said that tonnes of Philippine bananas were rotting at Chinese ports after the products were hold based on the alleged scale insects found on the previous shipment lot.

Philippines' Bureau of Plant Industry director Clarito Barron said that this have a huge impact on the Philippine industry. Last year, China imported 300,000 tonnes worth $60 million from last year.
