Bagyong QUIEL Update


Nature really doesn't joke. Just as destructive typhoon Pedring who had reached to public storm signal number three had destroyed many properties and claimed lives, another tropical storm had appeared so suddenly inside Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration office (PAGASA), tropical storm QUIEL had appeared at the upper-right part of the Philippines and moving towards the same part of the Philippines where typhoon Pedring lambasted.

At 4:00 AM Today, September 29, 2011, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration office (PAGASA), tropical Storm "QUIEL" was located based on satellite images and surface data at 1,240 kilometers East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.3°N, 134.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 105 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kilometers per hour. It is forecast to move West at 10 kilometers per hour.

According to PAGASA weather bulletin, tropical storm Quiel slightly intensifies as it moves toward our country, on Luzon area specifically.

At 4:00 PM Today, September 29, 2011, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration office (PAGASA), Tropical Storm "QUIEL" was estimated based on satellite images and surface data at 1,040 kilometers East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.1°N, 132.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 140 kilometers per hour. It is forecast to move West at 13 kilometers per hour.

It is forecast to move West at 22 kilometers per hour.

At 4:00 am today, October 2, 2011, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration office (PAGASA), the eye of Typhoon "QUIEL" was located based on satellite images and surface data at 200 kilometers West of Baguio City (16.4°N 118.5°E) with maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kilometers per hour. It is forecast to move West at 20 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, a low pressure area (LPA) was estimated at 700 kilometers East of Visayas (11.0°N 133.0°E)
