Pedro Calungsod's Canonization
Pedro Calungsod canonization's countdown had started today as led by Catholic authorities in the country.
Today is the 100'th days before Pedro Calungsod will be officially declared as a saint on Vatican City - the Catholic's center of religion.
On October 21, 2012, the Cebu City born martyr will be recongnized by the entire Catholism on Rome by Pope Benedict XVI and six other blessed personalities.
The countdown was led by Cebu City Archbishop Joese Palma at the Fuente OsOsmeña, Cebu City.
In Manila, capital of the country, a similar activity was also observed.
“In Manila, a similar activity was launched by Manila Archbishop Antonio Luis Tagle with former Ambassador (to Vatican City) Henrietta de Villa and others, who launched the countdown during the first Catholic Social Media Summit in Marikina City,” - Archbishop Palma on the public.
The said 100 days countdown was attended by university students, members of church-based organizations, catechists, priests, and religious congregations.
Pedro Calungsod is set to be an official saint, 24 years after the first Filipino saint was beatified.
