Bagyong Chedeng Update

Bagyong Chedeng is the third storm that is scheduled to enter the Philippine area of responsibility, forecasted by Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA) to hit Philippine soil this May 12 of this year.
The recently left typhoon - bagyong Bebeng had left 24 death tolls to the entire country.
Based on official report from Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA), bagyong Chedeng is still on its potential cyclone and is still a Low Pressure Area or LPA.
PAGASA said that they will keep on watch for this typhoon.

At 4:00 p.m. today, May 22, 2011, Tropical Storm (SONGDA) estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,050 km East of Northern Mindanao,(10.0°N, 136.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 11 kph.

At 4:00 p.m. today, May 24, 2011, Tropical Storm "CHEDENG" or bagyong Chedeng was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 450 km East Northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar, Leyte or at 510 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar, leyte ( 12.5°N, 129.8°E) with a maximum sustained winds of 115 kilomater per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 13 kph.

At 4:00 a.m. today, May 25, 2011, Tropical Storm "CHEDENG", Bagyong Chedeng was estimated based on satellite images and surface data at 365 kilometer East of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.2°N, 128.3°E) with a maximum sustained winds of 115 kilometer per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kilometer per hour. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 13 kilometer per hour.

At 4:00 a.m. today, the eye of Typhoon "CHEDENG" or bagyong Chedeng was estimated based on radar, satellite images and surface data at 270 kilomaters East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (14.0°N, 127.0°E) with maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometer per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kilometer per hour It is forecast to move Northwest at 15 kilometer per hour.

Typhoon Chedeng (international codename Songda), Bagyong Chedeng was reportedly to have gained more strength, but is not expected to hit landfall in Luzon anymore, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Thursday on a press release.
In the agency's 11 am press conference, PAGASA said that the typhoon was last spotted 230 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, with maximum sustained winds of 170 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center of the storm and gustiness of up to 205 kilometers per hour.
However, the agency kept the warning on Luzon premises about bagyong Chedeng's destructive winds.

At 4:00 p.m. today, Typhoon "CHEDENG" or Bagyong Chedeng was estimated based on radar formation, satellite images and surface data at 160 kilometer Southeast of Basco, Batanes (19.5°N, 123.3°E) with maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kilometers per hour. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 19 kilometers per hour.

At 4:00 p.m. today, May 28, 2011, the eye of Typhoon "CHEDENG" or bagyong Chedeng was estimated based on satellite images and surface data at 600 kilometer Northeast of Basco, Batanes (25.6°N, 125.4°E). Southwest Monsoon affecting Luzon area and Western Visayas.
