Palarong Pambansa 2011 @ Dapitan City

Manila, Philippines - Palarong pambansa is an annual sporting event participated by elemtary and high school students throughout the country, thus, this year we have Palarong Pambansa 2011.

This year's Palarong Pambansa 2011 will be held at Dapitan City having Jose Rizal State University as the host school from May 8 to may 14 of this year.

Dapitan City was chosen in celebration of Dr. Jose Rizal's, the Philippine's national hero, 150'th birth anniversary.

Palarong Pambansa 2011 has an estimated of 600 athletes and school officials to take part on the event.

Department of Education (DepEd) secretary Armin Luistro viewed the sporting event to flow based on values like hinesty and fair play, and having a Green palaro. He cited that there were cheating controversies in past's Palarong Pambansa, as well as uncontrolled garbage problems because of the event.

"All participants are urged to adhere to the clean, green and eco-friendly measures that DepEd intends to implement during the conduct of the 2011 Palarong Pambansa to ensure the protection of public health and environment," said secretary Armin Luistro in an interview.

Seventeen events are all scheduled to be featured in this year's Palarong Pambansa, devided into boys and girls in both elemtary and highschool levels.

Due to scrotching summer, no outdoor events will be held between 10am to 2pm as a precaution to the students' safety.
