After the dream had ended for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Philippine Azkals will now take a shot for the 2011 Long Teng Cup which will take place on Chinese Taipei.

“Yes, na-confirm na natin ang participation natin sa Long Teng Cup. The competition will take place sometime late September,” Mariano “Nonong” Araneta, Philippine Football Federation (PFF) President said on an interview.

The Long Teng Cup is a football competition participated by four Asian countries, namely: Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Philippines and Macau. Last year's Long Teng Cup, 2010 Long Teng Cup took place at Chinese Taipeo from October 8 to October 12, 2010, where Hong Kong won.

Ian Araneta of Philippine Azkals was recognized as the lone top scorer for the 2010 Long Teng Cup, he scored four goals.

The Philippine football team will have a one month training in preparation for the upcoming 2011 Long Teng Cup competition, as it was scheduled to kick off on late September, as Araneta said.

Philippine Azkals team was made popular after reaching the second round for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but for the information of everyone, the Philippine football team, Azkals, has been joining many football competition from the past years, including AFF Suzuki Cup qualification, AFC Challenge Cup qualification and Long Teng Cup.
