Coal Mine In Cebu Had Blast Accident
Four miners have been injured in an accident on a coal mine in Danao City, Cebu. An explosion was reported to have occured accidentally on a small-time mine that causes injuries on miners faces as well as on different parts of their bodies.
The accident happened in Barangay Lawaan, Danao City last Saturday.
The four miners Joseph Manzo, 18; Arnel Bacang, 28; Rolito Capote, 36; and Cereno Lugas, 56, are all residents of Barangay Lawaan. According to reports, the explosion occured when one of the miners hit a hard object that causes a spark which triggered the explosion inside the 50-meter deep mine.
“It was so quick and we didn't have time to rush out,” said one of the victim in an interview, the survivor added that they are so lucky to have survived the accident.
Officer-in-charge of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office - Dina Diatingo, said that CENRO the mining company owned by Adelina Hermita could be illegal since it was not granted an Environment Compliance Certificate for her business.
