Typhoon Juaning To Land On Philippine Soil
Tropical storm "Juaning" is expected to hit the Philippine soil tonight at the Quezon - Aurora area at around 8pm to 9pm.
"Inaasahang tatama ito ng kalupaan mamayang gabi mga alas-8 o alas-9 kung hindi magbago ang bilis, mamayang gabi," acting administrator of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Dr. Nathaniel Servando said on an interview.
The previous three named storms that entered Philippine responsibility did not created enough noise to be notice by most Filipinos, making this new typhoon an instant news maker. The three previous storms namely: Goring, Hanna and Ineng just entered and left (or dissolved) the country quitely. Some did not even made it to the regular night news.
However, after typhoon Falcon which left significant damages and claimed lives, Storm Juaning had already wasted significant amount of property and even claimed lives.
Juaning was reported to have killed two persons from Catanduanes City. Catanduanes Gov. Joseph Cua said that Rolando Angolo, 45 years old, a resident of San Vicente, Bagamanoc, had drowned while crossing the Sagrada River while Noel Angeles, 49 years old, of San Vicente, Viga, died after being hit by a toppled electric pole. A confirmed report that two individuals are still missing at Catanduanes City.
On Albay, Bagyong Juaning had claimed seven lives. Three residents of Barangay Gabon, Polangui had died in a landslide, two persons had died after a three fell right on their house due to strong winds. Another person died of electrocution while one drowned after being swept by the rushing water.
Two teenagers had also died after being directly struck by a lighting in Camarines Sur.
Another case where fingers were pointed to tropical storm Juaning happens on the skyway at South Luzon Expressway at around 11am earlier, July 26, 2011. The conductor said that the driver lost his control on the wheels after a strong wind hit their running bus. Three had died on the incident, including the driver, and had injured passengers.
