South Sudan Now Officially An Independent Country
It is official, South Sudan had became the newest country of the world after it's independence has been declared last Saturday.
South Sudan, officially named as Republic of Sudan, is a country on the East African Region. Juba is its largest city located in the southern state of Central Equatoria which has became the country's official capital.
South Sudanese celebrated their independence last Saturday with a noisy street celebration at midnight.
The first official president of Republic of Sudan is Salva Kiir. South Sudan President Salva Kiir hosted a noon time ceremony under the burning sun which attended by dignitaries including U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell.
South and North Sudan battled two civil wars for over more thatn five decades. A peace treaty had created in a 2005 peace pact which later led on south Sudan's independence declaration last Saturday.
South Sudan former leader, Omar al-Bashir, also attended last satuday's ceremony.
On the Philippine views, this is a little scary because we have also the same situation here on our country. As the Philippine was devided into three largest group of islands namely, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Mindanao, where most muslims dwells, also wants the Mindanao to be separated as an independent country.
Muslim rebels, fights the Philippine government army for this same idea. This news may respark some motivation to these rebels and terrorists to initiate another moves that would terrorize Filipino in order to send their message.
But we hope it will not like the North and South Sudan will be like, decades long of war.
