June 24, 2013 - Special Non-Working Holiday @ Manila

Manila, Philippines - It looks like the Manilenean would enjoy another set of long weekend after the Malacanang Palace had made the official announcement putting Manila into a special non-working holiday this coming Monday - June 24, 2013.

In celebration of the city's 442nd Foundation Day, through the power of Proclamation Number 604, the entire city was placed on a holiday.

This means that employees who need to report to work will be paid an overtime pay, student will have a rest day.

Below is the extract of the said proclamation.


BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

PROCLAMATION NO. 604

DECLARING MONDAY, 24 JUNE 2013, AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF MANILA

WHEREAS, Monday, 24 June 2013 marks the 442nd Foundation Day anniversary of the City of Manila;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAQUITO N. OCHOA JR., Executive Secretary, by authority of His Excellency, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III, do hereby declare Monday, 24 June 2013, as a special (non-working) day in the City of Manila.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 14th day of June, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Thirteen.
