He was known as Captain Bok as he was introduced by the Philippine Navy to the inquiring passengers.
The passengers said that he is not the captain pilot from that plane, yet he is the one who controlled the situation and calmed the tortured passengers inside the plane.
So who is Captain Bok?
Captain Bok was identified as Lt. Marlon Bo, a Navy reservist and graduate of Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) in 2003 according to Philippine Navy commander of the Civil Military Operations Group Col. Edgard Arevalo.
One of the passenger, Nino Ruel Alinsub, recalled what had transpired inside the plane: "It took the courage of one person, whom we only know as Captain Bok from the Philippine Navy, to calm everyone down. He knew what he was doing and he was in control when even the cabin crew looked like they were really [at a loss] on what to do. Capt. Bok gave clear instructions for everyone to sit down, so that we can leave row by row [and] prevent the plane from tilting over. He was the clear definition of a 'guiding voice."
Meanwhile, The Philippine Navy had assured that Captain Bok would receive proper honor for his heroic deed.
