Update - Puyehe volcano eruption update

The Puyehe volcano at standing at Santiago, Chile had erupted yesterday, Saturday, May 4, 2011. The eruption of Puyehe volcano had sent huge plume of smoke and ash high sky and prompting officials to immidiately evacuate 600 people living at the danger zone from the erupting volcano.

Chile authorities said that Puyehe volcano caused earthquakes on Saturday morning and that the eruption began on the afternoon. The National Emergency Office said that they have recorded an average of 230 tremours or earthquake an hour.

Fortunately, there are no reports of deaths or injuries as of now.

The eruption of Puyehe volcano occured 2.5 miles or 4 kilometers from the peak of the volcano. A column of gas six miles or 10 kilometers span from the vlocano, which was estimated to have three miles of five kilometers wide, according to a report from Chile's Narional Geology and Mining Service Administration.

To date, it reached 3,500 families (not people) that was evcuated from the area, however, some people decided to stay on their home because they did not want to abandon their animals.

Andes, Argentina which is located at the other side of Santiago, Chile - heavy ash falls was confirmed to have reached their place - the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.

Puyehe volcano is nearly 500 miles (800 kilometers) south of Chile's national capital, Santiago, Chile.
