August 3, 2012 Suspension Of Classes - PAGASA, DepEd


Classes are still suspended today, August 3, 2012, from various municipality nationwide after the full pledge typhoon Gener causes floods, landslides and heavy rains.

PAGASA earlier today announced on their weather bulletin that Bagyong Gener is still inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and still poses threat especially to the northern Luzon. Typhoon Gener moves about 9 kilometers per hour North Northwest and maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center.

Meanwhile, the guideline below for the suspension of classes is still in effect according to Department of Education (DepEd).

Signal Number One = Classes on pre-school level is suspended
Signal Number Two = Classes on pre-school, to both elementary and secondary level are suspended
Signal Number Three = All school levels' classes are suspended

Also, the Depeartment of Education had given parents the full discretion whether they will allow their kids to go to school on any rainy day cases.

At 4:00 p.m. yesterday, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Storm "GENER" was located based on satellite images and surface data at 430 km North of Basco, Batanes (24.7°N, 121.6°E). Maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 140 kilometers per hour. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 9 kilometers per hour.
