Philippines' New Warship BRP Gregorio del Pilar Ship
The newest, the biggest and the most capable war ship of Philippine army had arrived at Manila South Harbor Pier 13 last Sunday, August 21 2011.
The newest battle ship, BRP Gregorio del Pilar, was personally welcomed by the president himself.
Philippine president Benigno PNoy Noynoy Aquino III arrived at Manila South Harbor Pier 3 at around nine in the morning yesterday, Tuesday, August 23, 2011.
Aside from the president, other dignitary persons were also present including US Ambassador Harry Thomas, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Navy Flag Officer-in-Command Vice Admiral Alexander Pama, and Philippine Navy PF 15 Commanding Officer Captain Alberto Cruz.
They boarded the BRP Gregorio del Pilar and had a little tour around the ship.
The Philippines spent four hundred million, 450M, to refurbish the ship and for its fuel on its voyage from Hawaii to our country, Philippines. BRP Gregorio del Pilar is currently still on its white color but is planned to be repainted to match the Philippine Navy's fleet.
The Philippine Navy has trained 13 officers and 82 enlisted personnel to be the ship's crew. The new battle ship is planned to be deployed to guard the security of the Malampaya project.
Some nitizens criticized this newly bought ship as they said that it is a decommissioned ship of the US army. However, some positive minded persons said that at least we have some.
On keywordspeak team's note, we are happy to see that the Philippine navy had its new battle ship that has the mission to safeguard our country. Let's all accept it, we are just a poor country and we can not afford high-end equipements, this is the best thing we can do, let's all focus on maximizing its potential.
