Chieffy Caligdong Awarded Golden Boot Winner
Philippine Azkals' Chieffy Caligdong - Golden Boot Awardee
Chieffy Caligdong, the vice captain of Philippine Azkals was given the Golden Boot award from the recently concluded 2011 Long Teng Cup held at the Kaohsiung National Stadium in Taiwan last September 30 - October 4 of this year.
Chieffy Caligdong scored twice from their match against Macau earlier today, Tuesday - October 5, 2011. Philippine Azkals' Caligdong scored in the 56th minutes that broke a scoreless tie against Macau today. Caligdong added another score on the 87th minutes of the game that insured the win.
Philippine Azkals finished with five points having one win and two draws.
Though early in the game Caligdong did have and injury which forced him to rest from the game. He then came as a substitute on the halftime and gave Philippine Azkals a two-goal victory.
Chieffy Caligdong, a native of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo gave his speed and creativity to break the deadlock match making his trademark dribble. Caligdong's first attempt hit the goalkeeper before scoring on the rebound.
The match that was played today left Philippine Azkals a winning score of 2-0, all from the Air Force enlisted member - Chieffy Caligdong.
With this, Caligdong was declared top goalscorer on that international football competition after making two strong goals on the match against Macau.
Hong Kong lead the 2011 Long Teng Cup with 7 points, Philippines seconded with 5 points, the host team Chinese Taipei ended with 4 points while Macau which was reportedly composed mostly of beginners ended with zero score.
