P5 Million Was Given To MILF By Philippine Government

Everything began as a baseless rumors that wuickly spread through text messages and networking sites like twitter and facebook.

The news headline as P5 Million Was Given To MILF By The Philippine Government. The breaking news sparked outrage from the entire Filipino community especially nowadays where news of killings of Filipino soldiers by the MILF groups had been all over the news.

For over a week now, MILF rebels had been reported to have ambushed many Filipino troups on Mindanao. Take note that the incidents were not just an accidentally meet-ups cross fires but a brutal ambush by the MILF groups that killed many surprised government soldiers. These resulted to furious families of the victims and millions of Filipinos who all want justice for the victims.

Going back to the five million pesos MILF grant, both parties had affirmed the five million grant issue.

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front, MILF, vice chairman for political affairs Ghadzali Jaafar had confirmed that their group had indeed received an amount of P5 million check from the Philippine government last AUgust of this year. According to text messages, the five million pesos grant to MILF was handed over by them by no other than the Philippine president Benigno Noynoy PNoy Aquino III in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Some of the not-true facts about the circulating rumors is that the amount was not five billion pesos but P5 Million only, and that it was given on Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and not on Jakarta, Japan.

On the other side, Malacanang Palace had confirmed just yesterday that President Aquino had indeed authorized the release of a P5 million donation grant to MILF in Japan.

If you can notice, MILF spokesperson said that it was on Malaysia and not in Japan as what was said on the text messages. On the pther hand, the Philippine government officials said that it was all done at Japan. The place is still unclear, we will be updating this as soon as we heard any news about this.

Meanwhile, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said on a media breifing that the "donation" was a commitment of the previous Arroyo administration to the MILF group, that the present government found it to be worth pursuing.

Edwin Lacierda on a media interview said that the government wanted a liquidation report from the MILF group. Through the chief government negotiator Marvic Leonen, the MILF group will be notified to prepare an accounting report on when did the five million fund went.

Lacierda further added that the President found the text messages circulating nationwide was "malicious" stating that it was merely P5 million and not P5 billion.

The text messages had quickly spreaded and reached many Filipinos so quickly because of unlimited text services in compare to online medium.

One more major fact to correct is that it was not the president who handed the check but it was the chief government negotiator, Marvic Leonen, who personally gave the P5-million check to Murad during their meeting on Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last August of this year, and it was announced during the press conference.

So where did the money went ?
Were it the guns who had ambushed their own men ?
Were it the bomb which exploded their trucks ?
Did the Filipino taxes really killed their own soldiers ?
Was any guns, bombs, liquors, women, foods was spent from our own taxes ?

To answer these questions, Ghadzali Jaafar, MILF vice chairman for political affairs said that the P5-million pesos remains intact and untouched.

So they had escaped from the accounting didn't they ?

Can they still show the actual check given to them ?
