Floyd Mayweather To Manny Pacquiao, Wanted To Fight On May 5, 2012
This fight is really unevitable, everyone wanted to see this - the undefeated Floyd Mayweather versus pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao fight is really something to be expected, the only question is when.
This question however was answered yesterday when Floyd Mayweather Jr. himself tweeted "May 5 is the date, sign the contract. I’m waiting". The tweet however is very unofficial, but the desire has been publicly posted and sincerity is evident as he included the target date for the fight.
Manny Pacquiao on the other hand had confirmed to the local media that the negotiation for the upcoming fight is currently under process.
It can be recalled that the match between them came from many controversial spit when Floyd Mayweather Jr. accussed Manny Pacquiao of taking performance enhancement drugs, and challenged Pacquiao to take a blood test before the fight. Manny Pacquiao responded and agreed to the blood test but the fight did not happen. Pacquiao responded further by filling a civil suit against Mayweather and his camp for such allegations.
Speculations said that what makes Floyd Mayweather Jr. decided to finally fight Manny Pacquiao because of his latest fight against the Mexican boxer Manuel Marquez where Pacquaiao had a hard time beating Marquez. It can be recalled that Mayweather Jr. and Marquez fought back in September 2009, where Floyd won with a unanimous decision.
They said that Floy Mayweather Jr. gauged Manny Pacquiao on his latest fight. Maybe Mayweather Jr. said that Pacquiao had a hard time with Marquez while he just swept the latter from their fight with him having control on all rounds of the fight. Mayweather Jr. even said that Pacquiao obviosly lost on his fight with Marquez.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manuel Marquez untitiled fight took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas under Gloden Boy Promotions and Mayweather Promotions under 144 pounds on September 19, 2009.
Manny Pacquiao further revealed that the financial issues has to be settelled for the fight to be sealed formally as Bob Arum went on for the initial talk.
Giving you more excitement, the 34 years old reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion said “I can’t be sitting waiting all day, you want to fight, let’s make it happen,” - “I’m here. I’m waiting, what’s going on? I can sign today. If I sign today, you better sign tomorrow.”
In regards to the drug test requirement of Floyd - “You said you're a clean athlete and you said you'd take the test, so let's do it.” - said Floyd Mayweather.
