Philippine representative to the Miss World 2011, Gwendolyn Ruais from Muntinlupa City took home the first runner up title, and thus named as the First Princess.

Ivian Sarcos was crowned as Miss World 2011, our Gwendolyn Ruais got the First Runner Up title and Amanda Vilanova of Puerto Rico got the Second Princess or the Second Runner Up title.

Miss World 2011 coronation night was held at the Earls Court Two last November 6, 2011.

The 5'11", half Filipino - half French also made to the pageant's three fast track events - Top 20 in Beach Beauty, Top 20 in Top Model and Top 10 in Beauty with a Purpose. Gwendolyn Ruais was also hailed as Contenental Queen of Asia & Pacific. The points she got on these categories gave her a sure ticket to enter the Top 30 quarterfinals.

On the other note, Philippine President Benigno PNoy Noynoy Aquino III through Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda sent a congratulatory message to Gwendolyn Ruais before the press people.

“We extend our congratulations to… Miss Philippines for once again proving that we Filipinos are capable of competing against the best and the brightest on the world stage,” Lacierda said.

According to reports, the 21 years old Gwendolyn Ruais barely overlapped Miss Puerto Rico on the 1st place with small score difference. Nevertheless, Miss Philippines is the First Runner Up for the Miss World 2011.

Gwendolyn Ruais had just got her Business Management degree - major in Marketing last year.

Gwendolyn Ruais answered:

"To be Miss World is my dream job, and I say job because it has a lot of responsibilities but there’s nothing I love more than communicating with other people. As Miss World you get to use your potential and your voice to help people from all around the world, and what is more wonderful than doing what you love by helping others."
