Gloria Arroyo For House Arrest Instead Of Hospital Arrest

House Arrest, Arroyo's Lawyer Request

The camp of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, through her lawyers had widthrew their motion for the hospital arrest for their client and publicly admitted that the condition of their client had gotten better. Arroyo's lawyer manifested their intent for a house arrest after they told reporters that the former Philippine president was "fit to be discharged from the hospital."

The house arrest needs to be approved after the hospital arrest or Gloria Arroyo to prevent herself from going to jail where she will be place on a caged steel bars.

The prosecution however responded for Arroyo's health development by filing a motion for the immediate transfer of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to a detention facility.

"Considering that there is already admission that Mrs. Arroyo is already medically fit, our position is that she should immediately be transferred to detention facility," Atty. Maria Juna Velez, one of the prosecution lawyer said to the media.

The Arroyo's camp however imposed their motion for the house arrest citing concerns about the security of their client. "Hindi po ito special treatment," Atty. Raul Lambino, one of Arroyo's lawyer said on the media. "The president should not be equated to ordinary people. There are security risks involved, especially sinasabi nilang maraming galit sa kanya." Lambino further added.

On the other note, Bayan Muna Representative Teodoro Casiño expressed his desire that the former president be detained behind cold bars. Casiño accused Gloria Arroyo and her lawyers of deliberately deceiving people after their camp filed the motion for the house arrest right after admitting that the former president's health had improved.

It can be recalled that Arroyo's camp had admitted on the "improving health" controversies after the local media, specifically abs-cbn news, had acquired the official medical records of Pampanga's Representative Gloria Arroyo.

Going back to Bayan Muna representative - "She’s as healthy as a horse and should be immediately put behind bars in a regular jail. A house arrest at this time is unjust and constitutes special treatment. What the court should do is remove her from St. Luke’s Hospital and bring her to jail first and from her cell she can argue her petition for house arrest," - the lawmaker, Teodoro Casiño said.

On the other hand, former president Joseph Estrada wants PUBLIC hospital arrest to Gloria Arroyo instead of her being in a hospital arrest on a private hospital. Estrada further told on an interview that he pitty Arroyo, who ousted him from power because no one pitty her.

The TV Patrol, on its poll question earlier today asked the public if they are agree on the house arrest for Gloria Arroyo, the outcome said that 87% of those who voted said that they are not agree on the house arrest motion while the other 13% said that they agree for the house arrest.
