Widespread Blackout On Luzon

Six major power plants went into an emergency shutdown on Wednesday afteroon, May 8, 2013, that resulted into a widespread blackout that halted businesses and added inconvinience into an already uncomfortable weather.


Talkinng about the technical facts, a total of 3,700 megawatts of power were reduced on Luzon grid which represents 45 percent of Luzon's electricity demand.

"Due to power generation deficiency brought about by the outage of several power plants, a 4-hour rotational brown-out is presently being implemented." - a Meralco spokesman said on an interview.

In relation, COMELEC had assured the public that they had ensured that the May 13, 2013 national election would have an steady electricity throughout the country.
